Ghalegaun is a model village for experiencing the typical culture and lifestyles of the Gurung people. Traditional customs are still followed during births, deaths, marriages and in other rituals. Age old cultural dances like Jyaure, Serka, Dohori, Ghatu, Sorathi, Jankri etc are performed on various occasions accompanied by different musical instruments and with the dancers in traditional dress. Visitors to Ghalegaun are welcomed with offering of garlands and tika while music and dances are performed and traditional farewell songs are sung when guests depart. Nepali New Year and Buddha Jayanti are celebrated with traditional dance called Ghatu. The people of Ghalegaun keep goats and sheep and use wool from these animals to make woolen products. They make clothes and bags from nettle fiber (Allo Cloth) and scarf, towels and shawls from the wool of angora rabbits. Ironsmiths make different iron products. Craftsmen produce a whole of different products from bamboo.
Day 01: From Pokhara or Kathmandu a scenic drive to Besisahar 765 m and continue drive to Ghalegaon 1,700 m transfer to local huts.
This is about six hours drive Kathmandu and three hours drive from Pokhara, depending upon where you want to start from before or after your previous trip with Annapurna Encounter, on reaching this mid hills Gurung village with warm welcome transfer to local cozy nice huts, with afternoon at leisure to observe the village way of life.
Day 02: At Ghale gaon for local exploration.
A day at Ghalegaon with short excursion around viewpoints for fabolous panorama views of mountains from Annapurna-Machhapuchhre (Fish-Tail) Lamjung to Manaslu range, afternoon time to explore the village and interact with the natives.
Day 03: At Ghalegaon for local excursion and activities.
Morning after breakfast at leisure and observe the village life with a visit of Gurung museum, filled with Gurung treasures passed from generations to generations to present day.
Day 04: Drive to Pokhara or Kathmandu.
After a memorable and wonderful stay in Ghale-gaon drive back to Pokhara or Kathmandu for onward journey and for international departure to respective destinations.
